I tend to agree with these evaluations, and it explains why the “big” press event was scheduled on a Thurs and held that Friday, just before 4th of July weekend. Intel may have been a last minute addition to an existing relationship between BMW and MobileEye, and an opportunity for MBLY to promote their 5th gen product, while they are 2 years away from delivering the 4th generation.

I don’t think Intel will win any sockets from this deal, but they will get some great industry marketing gains by contributing $100’s of millions and several hundred engineering resources to maintain their BMW relationship.
